Latest Horsham History book online

Horsham Town Hall

Interested in the history of Horsham’s Town Hall? Perhaps you want to know how local football first began or even how the town’s bandstand in the Carfax was built?

As part of an ongoing commitment by the Friends of Horsham Museum & Art Gallery, Volume 3 of former Curator Jeremy Knight’s extensive Horsham History is now available online.

Due to rising costs of printing, it was unlikely Jeremy’s five volumes full of facts and anecdotes would be re-printed so the Friends are putting them on their website for the general public to view.

They are great source of information for anyone doing research on the town or those who are just keen on local history!

Volume 3 goes from 1880 to 1913 and includes a brief history of Horsham’s famous runner, Alfred Shrubb and even how Horsham was mentioned in Sherlock Holmes stories!

The introduction to the Horsham Histories.
