Our Next Talk

On Wednesday April 15, at 7.30pm – AGM & George Graham-Payne talking about the Horshamosaurus

  • Champion town crier – Horsham’s Billy Law
In 1912, William Law, Horsham’s last town crier, won the first Great Britain championship, proving his worth despite the Urban Council’s reluctance to sponsor his uniform. His victory led to public celebration and further opportunities in performance.
  • Who remembers pounds, shillings and pence?
In 1971, the UK transitioned to a decimal currency system, replacing the complex pounds, shillings, and pence. Old coins, like the farthing, were phased out prior to this change.
