Star Wars Day and Horsham Museum

Today is Star Wars Day (May the Fourth – ‘May the Force’ – get it?) and, perhaps surprisingly, Horsham Museum & Art Gallery has some artefacts in its archives relating to the film franchise!

Darth Maul

First we have the above character figure of Darth Maul on a wheeled vehicle from the George Lucas Star Wars film Phantom Menace, released in 1999.

It’s made of rigid plastic and the vehicle is set in motion by inserting the thin plastic strap with a ring pull at one end into a hole and sharply pulling it out again.

The other object in the archives is a collapsing character figure of a Pit Droid, again from the movie Phantom Menace.

A Pit Droid

Again made of rigid plastic, it is held together with elastic. If the base is pressed from beneath, the figure can be made to collapse.

Some Stars Wars figures can command very high prices among avid collectors but these two are on the lower end of the scale!
