Amazing Woolbeding Gardens – next Friends event!

Photos from the Friends trip to Woolbeding Gardens in May 2023.

Following the success of the Friends of Horsham Museum & Art Gallery trip to Woolbeding Gardens, near Midhurst, last year a return trip has been organised for this September!

The visit in 2023 was in May, so this year’s visit will see a garden looking somewhat different as autumn is on the horizon.

The gardens are run by the National Trust and an organised trip is particularly useful as there is no on-site or even local parking. Instead, visitors usually have to pick up the minibus that runs to and from the venue.

So, with our own minibus booked, the Friends and their guests will have a door to door service (well, from Horsham’s park and ride and back anyway!).

Tickets will be approximately £20, plus £12 for non-National Trust members. For full details and to book, email fhmag1893@gmail.com

As those who made the trip last year will confirm, there is a great deal to see and enjoy at Woolbeding!

A must-see, though, is the striking ten-sided glasshouse set among a landscaped series of garden zones exhibiting plants, shrubs and trees that depict the key regions of the Silk Route.

You don’t have to walk far to see the fascinating William Pye fountain, while the stumpery and woodland are close by and a welcome shaded area on a hot day.

There’s also an excellent cafe that serves excellent cake!

The gardens extend to 26 acres so it’s worth a little research to plan your visit. Full information can be found at the Woolbeding Gardens website.
