One of our latest adoptions (under the Adopt an Artefact scheme) reminded me how things seemingly miles apart are still connected.
The adoption of Alfred Shrubb’s running shoes was made by a family recently moved into the District, for their son and his family who live in Canada.

Not just anywhere in Canada, though, but a short distance (by Canadian standards) from Bowmanville where Alfred Shrubb lived out his life after retiring from running and coaching.
We are hoping that both families will be able to call into the museum to see the shoes, and adoption notice, before the end of their adoption period.

I’m not sure if either family will be taking part in the Alfred Shrubb commemorative races in Slinfold next month – maybe just as spectators!
