Museum Friends’ trip to Woolbeding – what a deluge!

We were only a small band who braved the horrendous weather on Thursday (September 5) for our trip to Woolbeding Gardens, near Midhurst, but we were delighted that we made the effort, writes Pam French.

Despite the rain falling most of the time that we were at the gardens, we used the time to extensively explore the 26 acres from the upper Terrace Garden, through the Hornbeam Tunnel and right down the Long Walk to the River God.

The Heatherwick glasshouse may well, however, have been the most popular place to be as the sections were firmly closed to protect the sub-tropical plants inside.

As expected, the café was doing brisk business, although no-one lingered there for too long.

A big thank you to Riccardo’s Travel for getting us there safely.

Next year we may have to think about an excursion to somewhere indoors!
