During November for the past two years Horsham Museum & Art Gallery has been taking part in a social media campaign called #Museum30.
This has, in fact, been held for the last eight years.
It was started in the UK by a lady, Gracie Price, who studied museum studies and goes by the social handle @magnifyzoology.
The idea has been to compile a list of 30 photography prompts based around museums. These prompts have been easier than others down the years!

Some are quite abstract (such as ‘green’ and, indeed, ‘abstraction’!) while others are more down to earth (such as ‘Why Museums?’).
The fun part is to relate the word or phrase to something in your Museum or, at least something the Museum gets involved with.
Horsham Museum & Art Gallery only posts these #Museum30 entries on Instagram as that is the most pictorial of the social media outlets.

So why get invovled?
As we all know, social media is a global phenomena, so to get your message across to a potentially much wider audience is a chance not to be sniffed at!
Many museums across the UK get involved, as well as others from further afield, and it’s always great to be part of a ‘club’ of like-minded people.
It’s also a great way to tell the ‘story’ of your Museum. You can introduce your team, along with flagging up unusual artefacts, successful activities and the general history of the place.
So, get involved. Just type in #Museum30 and enjoy all the varied entries!
