Wonderful wildlife in Horsham Museum garden

Despite the extreme weather conditions experienced this year, the Horsham Museum & Art Gallery volunteer gardeners have done an amazing job again!

The wide variety of plants and shrubs have meant there’s been plenty of wildlife on view.

We’ve been out with our camera to track down just a few of the species that have made the Museum garden their home.

This year’s highlight has to be the wasp spider (pictured) that moved in during August. This remarkably large spider is a fairly recent arrival from the continent and it’s obvious why it’s got its name!

We’ve seen various butterflies and moths, most far too quick to be captured by our camera, but the tiny mint moth was a delight (until it flew into the web of a common European spider!).

Horsham Museum will close temporarily from September 7 until January5 2027 for essential repairs to the roof. However, the Museum will continue to post on its social media outlets, provide blogs on its website and will be back with a packed programme in the new year.
