For the latest in our series looking at artists featured in the Horsham Museum & Art Gallery archive we have Edward Fox senior.

He was a popular artist in the middle of the 19th Century and produced several works around Brighton where he lived and worked as a ‘decorative painter and artist’.
Horsham Museum has a couple of his oil paintings that he produced of Horsham scenes. One is of Farthing Bridge (above), on the way to Broadbridge Heath, while the other is entitled North Street and is most likely of the house called Northchapel.
His interest in Horsham may well have stemmed from his wife Sarah who was born in the town.

The paintings are currently not on show.
Edward Fox junior became a notable photographer and took numerous pictures of the landscape and buildings in the Brighton area.
