Horsham Museum & Art Gallery Curator Nikki Caxton reveals the link behind the town and one of the most gruesome serial killers, in a new BBC Secret Sussex episode!
Available via the BBC Sounds app or the link here, Nikki provides the background to how murderer John George Haigh was arrested in the 1940s and locked up in the Horsham jail, before appearing in front of the town’s magistrates.

He was subsequently sent to trial for the murder of at least six people and hanged.
To link up with the Secret Sussex episode, some of Museum’s artefacts relating to Haigh are now on show in the Horsham Now gallery (pictured below). They include Haigh’s prison label.

Our YouTube link is to a Pathe News item, showing scenes from the time.
