Friends’ next talk – Sussex’s Literary Landscapes

The wealth of literature that has been written about Sussex comes under scrutiny at the Friends of Horsham Museum & Art Gallery’s next talk.

This replaces the original speaker who, due to unforeseen circumstances, had to cancel.

So join us on Wednesday September 23 at 7.45pm in the Wesley Hall at the London Road Chapel and meet Dr Geoffrey Mead, who has worked as a tutor with the geography team at the University of Sussex and is a specialist in the study of urban and rural areas in South-East
England.

Geoffrey says: “Sussex has probably more literature devoted to it than any other county. I’ll take extracts from travel writing, diaries, novels, poetry, government reports plus local histories and then link them to their associated images.

“We’ll track county reportage from the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle via Defoe, Cobbett, and Graham Greene right through to the 21st Century.”

Refreshments are available and admission is £7.50 at the door.
